The birth of Lifting Hand Foundation started in the year 2000 when pastor S.G. Prabhu Jayaraj was praying to God. He received a clear vision from God who spoke to him to pray for the orphans and down trodden children with a scripture verse from bible from the book of Psalm chapter 82 verse 3 which says as below,
“Give Justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute”
When pastor Prabhu Jayaraj went to the church with his family he saw a 14-year-old boy by name Ramesh who is a handicap and begging for money. When pastor Prabhu Jayaraj met him, the boy said he is an orphan. Pastor Prabhu Jayaraj took him to his house and gave him food, clothes to wear and was taking care of him. A few months later his parents came in search of him and took him back with them and went.
Pastor Prabhu Jayaraj was feeling sad and was in worry for few days. During this time again God spoke to him and said to help the needy, down trodden and an orphan. Since then, he started to pray and share the Good News and help the needy.
In the year 2000, pastor Prabhu Jayaraj started working with a trust who are involved in bringing the aged people from the street and shelter them and provide them food and clothes to wear. Pastor Prabhu Jayaraj was not satisfied there since the aged people die within few days.
In the year 2004 pastor Prabhu Jayaraj started awareness programs for the people in the streets, helping them with food and clothes to wear. During this time, he found that the children are the one who are affected more who do not get the parental love and become orphan.
By the grace of God, in 2014 pastor Prabhu Jayaraj registered the Lifting Hand Foundation as a charitable trust under Indian Government Act and also registered for 12A and 80G from the Income Tax Department. Today the trust under the banner “Home of Compassion” is helping the orphan and the needy children who cannot afford with shelter, education, food and clothes to wear and also supporting the widows who are in need.
Bible says in Mathew 25:45
… ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.
